An Encounter with the Cookie!

May 4th, 2008 by ilovedavidcook

I was browsing online when I stumble upon this lady’s blog on how she met David Cook in person and relates to us her experiences with our Cookie.  Aimee (thats the name on her blog) shared to MyIdol Forums about her close encounter with the next best thing!

Aimee, allow me to share to our fellow COOKIES ur experience and also the photograph of you and David during their visit at the Mirage in Las Vegas recently.

Entitled "I MET OUR BOY TODAY", here are some excerpts from her blog.  I would do the same thing if I were in her shoes! :-P

"… Once they showed up it was chaos.  I didn’t really notice any of the other idols mainly because I was so focused on Mr. Cook.  Finally he came to where I was standing and I was screaming his name at the top of my lungs.  Syesha grabbed my hand and said hello, I nicely said HI SYESHA and then proceeded to try to get David’s attention.  Finally he was within arms distance and I took my shot.  I grabbed his arm and shouted his name again (I had to shout, it was loud as heck there!!)  He looked at me and smiled.  I mouthed, or said … not too clear … "I LOVE YOU!" and I told him he was amazing.  He smiled, put his hand on his chest and said thank you.  I then asked him for a quick picture.  He said "YES!  Let’s do it! It has to be fast!" so he put his arm around me …. pulled me in and we took a photo.  It was rushed and he actually got yelled at by some guy behind him telling him that he’s not supposed to be stopping.  I thanked him and he leaned in, hugged me and said "Thank you so much!  I love you!’" and they walked inside…"

I feel happy for Aimee for he was finally able to meet our AMERICAN IDOL!  Here are more lines from her blog.

"… He told me to wait a minute. Then he said something to the guy who was telling them they had to leave, pointed at me and then ran over to me and said "HI! Okay!" and I said "Thank you so much!  I’ll make this quick" and he said "No worries, let’s do this babe!" and I said OKAY!  So we took another photo (Which I think came out super cute! lol).  He looked at the picture and said it was really good, a woman told him that he was going to win.  He was so humbled. He said he hoped so.  Then some girls told him how they vote every Tuesday.  He smiled and said thank you and I then told him how we have 3 cells phones and a landline going in the house and he smiled and said "OMG WOW That’s AWESOME!"…"

Indeed David Cook is really destined for stardom!  Here are more thoughts from Aimee.

"…I told him I was going to be at the finale and he said "Me too!" then said "Well I hope so. Actually, I’ll be there either way!" and I said "WELL SO WILL I!" :-) and he said "Then I’ll see you at the finale!" and hugged me and said bye to everyone, thanking them for sticking around and coming to see them, then he left as did the rest of the idols.  David was the only one out of the four who came over and talked to us … which I thought was pretty awesome …."

Calling all COOKIES, let us support David Cook all the way!  We must not let him down!  He is very talented and deserves to be the next American Idol!

Simon Cowell Predicts a David-David Finals

May 4th, 2008 by ilovedavidcook

Dcook23 So it looks like we are not having a shock elimination at this stage in the competition. Simon Cowell is predicting that it will be an all-David finale.

There is no doubt in SIMON COWELL’s mind that this year’s “American Idol” finale will be a competition between the two David’s — DAVID ARCHULETA and DAVID COOK — he indicated at a press conference to promote this summer’s “America’s Got Talent,” on which he is the creator/executive producer.

“You’re going to have a real scrap,” he predicts. “The winner will really depend on what song they sing on the night.”

That said, he also admits that “American Idol” is also a popularity contest and that, “David Cook has got the better voice and David Archuleta has got the teen and grandma appeal.”

Hahaha! Grandma appeal!

From ETOnline

Simon also hinted at some changes with the Songwriter Competition this year:

“You can guarantee either the word ‘proud’ or ‘moment’ will be in the song. How about ‘I’m Proud to Be in this Moment Now’?”

When asked if the final two will get to change up the arrangement to better suit their vocal styles, Cowell hinted at a glimmer of hope:

“I won’t give it away, but there’s a slight change to last year which is going to be an improvement.”

From EW

This assessment from Simon Cowell of course indicates that they see David Cook having a more successful career than David Archuleta. Cook has the young adults who have purchasing power, while Archuleta has the teens (a lucrative but fickle market) and the grandmas who unfortunately do not dictate the direction of pop culture.

In the context of the show, I believe that David Archuleta has the edge. The little boy with a big heart winning is the kind of happy ending we’ve come to expect from this show, but if the COOKIES will outnumber the grandmas in terms of votes, I think we will have our first rocker to become the next American Idol!

Please continue supporting DAVID COOK

May 3rd, 2008 by ilovedavidcook

David Cook has been compared to Chris Daughtry a lot. From the day he auditioned, until his last performance, a lot of people online are saying that like Chris Daugtry (remember last year, when he was eliminated after he reach the top 4), David Cook will be next to be eliminated and be immediately given a recording deal so he will become the biggest selling act of 2008.

Thats nonsense for me!  We have to continue supporting David Cook!  Lets prove to the world that we love David Cook so much and we want David Cook to be the next American Idol!

He’s the next big thing!  He can write songs, re-arrange melodies, draw a crowd and perform onstage!

So tune in next week, tuesday for the live show, and VOTE FOR DAVID COOK!

On How David Cook Chose His Song

May 1st, 2008 by ilovedavidcook

Davidcook112 David Cook looks like he walked out of central ”rock star” casting when the 25-year-old struts into rehearsal, dressed in studded jeans, a faded T-shirt, and cowboy boots. But within a few seconds he’s goofily acting out a scene from An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. Cook is set on ”I’m Alive,” a power rock & roll number, but song two is still up in the air.

He contemplated ”America” (”I’m a Midwest born and bred guy. Something about that song I couldn’t internalize,” he later says), ”Hello Again” (”It didn’t fit me”), and ”Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show” (”My dad wanted me to sing it. It’s an amazing song, but I didn’t really feel like the other song complemented it”).

He finally settles on ”All I Really Need Is You,” a simple ballad that bores Byrd: ”You don’t need to sing a lullaby. I’m not sure I hear a David Cook moment.”

But Cook is confident because he hears a ”November Rain” quality to it. ”There are some vocal similarities between Neil Diamond and Axl,” he laughs.

Things couldn’t go better at the Saturday rehearsal, especially when Diamond puts his arm on Cook’s shoulder. ”It was really fatherly,” he recalls. ”That moment solidified the whole day for me. It calmed me down.”

It’s hard to imagine front-runner Cook being anything but calm. ”He is without question the best performer,” Cowell says. ”I’d like him to win it.” And he just may with more performances like the sweeping ”All I Really Need,” which wins the raves of the night. Cowell, who said ”I’m Alive” was ”just above average,” proclaims the second song ”brilliant…. You changed the arrangement, you made it work for you.”

And in two days, he’ll have to start doing the same thing all over again. And I bet he will!

David Cook will be the next American Idol!

Bo Bice on American Idol next week

May 1st, 2008 by ilovedavidcook

Have you been saying ‘I miss Bo’ every week this season?  If so, rejoice! According to several media outlets, Bo will appear to perform - LIVE! - on next week’s Idol results show (May 7th).

Here’s EOnline

" Next week, the final four will once again sing two songs apiece, tunes that helped shape or otherwise inspire rock ‘n’ roll as we know it today. Maroon 5 and Bo Bice will perform Wednesday."

Here’s MTV:

" Next week Cook, Archuleta, Castro and last-woman-standing Mercado will each sing two songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The following night will feature performances from Maroon 5 and former “Idol” finalist Bo Bice, as the show steams toward the crowning of this year’s “Idol” on May 21."

UPDATE: According to Bo’s MySpace, he will be performing ‘Witness’ with the AI house band. Bring it on!

Top 4 Elimination Theory

May 1st, 2008 by ilovedavidcook

As you may have already known already, Brooke White blacked out yesterday and was eliminated from the American Idol contention. Now we are down to the Top 4. Who among Syesha, Jason, David A and David C will win the coveted title of American Idol. Here are my insights on what will happen on the next few shows (and who will be eliminated and how…)

We now have a couple of scenarios that could happen depending on how Nigel Lythgoe want this all to play out:

Syesha_0430_1 Syesha Mercado leaves. To create an all-male Top 3 and a potential ratings disaster. I dont think this is going to happen. Poor Syesha. I feel bad for her. Her name has been floating around since the Top 12, but it was Fox’s own fault for having a token black diva in the competition. Syesha has no fans, but her presence on this show is crucial. She embodies so many archetypes she is literally indispensable (black diva, the “survivor”, now the only female, the “underdog” etc.)

They may even use her in the finale! Syesha Mercado is further evidence that this show is rigged. Syesha has been in the Bottom 2 or 3 a staggering 6 times out of the last 8 weeks. How America can do this with cut-throat precision for 2 MONTHS (putting her in the bottom, then saving her) specially when MILLIONS of votes are allegedly involved is amazing.

And yet, these fans never bother to buy ANY of her recordings or form any fan clubs. So you either believe that a Syesha fan is poor, no access to iTunes or simply doesn’t care for any song she has sung on the show — OR that she has no fans from the very beginning. And since I believe the latter, logically there is no way that Syesha will leave next week — just as I have been predicting for the past few weeks if anyone noticed.

Jason_0430_1 Jason Castro leaves. The most likely outcome. I feel bad for Jason. Never has there been an all-male Top 3 and I believe this is not going to happen this year. If the show was so willing to let go of Michael Johns before the girls, then they will let go of Jason Castro before Syesha Mercado. The fact that Jason was not in the Bottom 2 this week should tell him that he is on his last week no matter what happens… unless…

One of the shock elims happen:

Davidcook_0430_1 David Cook leaves. David Cook has been compared with Chris Daughtry all season, and David Cook going at this spot where Daughtry left is certainly a possibility. Maybe he’ll be eliminated just to stress the point. David Cook is now assured to be signed by 19 Entertainment to a recording deal, and it really doesn’t matter when he leaves.

Shock elimination? Rocker-redemption with a win? It’s all for dramatic effect. It’s very likely that David Cook will be the best-selling act for Season 7, just like Daughtry.

David_a_0430_1 David Archuleta leaves. This will be the shock elimination to end all shock eliminations. And if this is going to happen, it’s going to happen in the Top 4 for maximum effect having Syesha and Jason in the mix. If American Idol so decides that they want a shock elimination for the sake of having one, I think it will be Archuleta over Cook since David Archuleta was the early favorite which faded by not appealing to anyone outside of his core fans. This will make headlines for a long time which a true shock elimination should.

And if either David leaves in the Top 4 or Top 3, the other David will win for sure — and will place Syesha Mercado in the finale much to the shock of the Universe. So will there be a shock elim? It depends on how the Top 4 show will pan out — you know, the “script” — Simon Cowell has yet to utter the words: “I think you can win American Idol” — which is the guaranteed seal of approval. But I doubt that a shock elim will happen.

Davidcook58 A David vs. David finale is too good to pass up. It will have a Clay vs. Ruben feel to it, which was arguably the best finale match up ever on American Idol. Ryan Seacrest may even use the “it is the closest vote ever” line all over again. And in that scenario, I have to disagree with Rickey, David Cook will be the American Idol, just like Carrie Underwood vs. Bo Bice. It’s actually a total win for Fox, since they will have a finale where the audience will be unsure of what happens, then the rocker as the winner, which has never happened in Idol history.

Also the fans (cookies), whom others say will not sit down and dial the lines to vote, will prove to the world that a rocker is definitely going to be the next American Idol and I think “America” will do that.

The hottest American Idol Ever: David Cook is the most popular contestant right now even if David Archuleta is “perceived” to have legions of fans in people’s minds. So it will still be interesting how the show manages to justify David Archuleta will win in the finale — just like Carrie Underwood with “Angels Brought Me Here”. This is why a David Cook elimination is not out of the question.

If indeed David Archuleta is the chosen one and Nigel feels that little David will not be able to pull it off vs. big David in a head-to-head match up, then David Cook might go in Top 4 or 3. But I think American Idol will find a way to make a David vs. David finale work and in the end, David Cook will seal the victory with millions and millions of votes.

Also, there are 3 more weeks. Anything can still happen. But one thing’s for sure, David Cook will win American Idol… And we will be here all the way to support him!

Paula Ruins A.I. by Reading “Pre-Written” Comments

April 29th, 2008 by ilovedavidcook

Paula Paula Abdul Ruins American Idol by Reading "Pre-Written" Judges Comments.

Fresh from www.rickey.org this is what happened during the show!

I totally did not enjoy tonight’s show because Paula Abdul just revealed that this show is rigged. I really don’t mind if this show is rigged, because I’m all about the entertainment, but to have Paula Abdul spill the secret sauce just like that tonight was very disappointing.

Basically, due to time constraints, the judges were going to give their comments for two songs only after the second song. However, after all the first songs were sung, Ryan Seacrest asked the judges what they thought of the songs so far for all the Idols.

Randy rattled off his comments with precision, then come Paula’s turn, reading her notes she made her “comments” about Jason Castro’s first song and then Jason’s second song, and what she thought about both songs. Before she said her stuff about David Cook, Randy corrected her that it was just the first song. Randy, Simon and Ryan then scrambled to save the situation. Paula then tried to cover up herself by saying that the comments she had read (which were NEGATIVE) were supposed to be for David Cook. (!!!)

Come Jason’s second song, Paula Abdul repeated her “fight” comment from her earlier flub. Geez. Paula can’t ad lib if this show depended on it.

I think the mere fact that Paula revealed that they had notes for the second unsung song is enough to cast doubt — so from the dress rehearsals up to the preformances Jason Castro was continually not “fighting”? If Randy did not stop Paula, she would have most likely read all her notes for the contestants and she looked visibly confused at what had happened.

PAULA is HIGH AGAIN !!! :-P

Here’s the clip of the said comment.  Click HERE.

Neil Diamond Night on American Idol

April 29th, 2008 by ilovedavidcook

Its Neil Diamond Night (who the f–k is he?) on American Idol!  The Top 5 American Idol will once again prove their versatility by singing the songs of Mr. Diamond tonight!

Remember, each idol will sing two songs since there are only five of them left (how many songs does Neil Diamond have anyway?)

Again, thanks to Rickey, we were able to get the live blogging of the show.  Ur awesome Rickey!

Jason_0430 First to sing tonight is Jason Castro.  His first song is Forever in Blue Jeans.  This song has a western touch so this song will fit Jason’s voice definitely and he did not fail the audience.  His second song is September Morn.  This song is so sad.  It gives such a melodramatic aura, which fits Jason’s voice perfectly.  Good choice of song!  I think Jason will be safe for another week.

Davidcook_0430 Next to sing is David Cook and his first song for the night is I’m Alive.  This song is perfect for the Cook because its has a kindda rock and roll beat.  Im not sure if this is the original arrangement, but if its not, then Cook has re-arrange another song and made it a hit!  His second song is All I Need Is You.  This proves that the Cook can sing anything.  This song is a mix pop ballad slow rock tune, and the Cook was able to carry the song perfectly.  David Cook for the win!

Brooke_0430 Midway down the group is Brooke White with the song I’m a Believer.  I dont know but I never liked Brooke from the start.  The song sounds awkward for me.  I think the Cook would have given the song more justice.  Her second song was I am… I said.  This song was better for her voice.  Soothing rendition.  At least she was able to sang this one better.  I think she’s definitely going home this week.

David_a_0430 Second to the last is David Archuleta with the song Sweet Caroline.  As expected, he was going to sing this one.  The one that would swoon the teen-age girls!  His rendition was ok for me.  He had better performances in the past.  At some point, he has a tendency to shout which is bad at this stage of the contest.  His second song is America.  This one is better than the first one.  Dont worry,  I think he will be safe this week.  Im not expecting another shocker elimination.

Syesha_0430 To close the show will be Syesha Mercado with the song Hello Again. I like her performance of the song, perfect for her voice.  She’s showing more character now.  I liked her rebonded look.  She’s trying to reinvent herself to appeal more to the audience.  Way the go Syesha!  (I think Jason should do something about his dreadlocks as well)  Her second song is Thank the Lord for the Night Time.  Again, good song choice, right for her voice.  The new look is perfect for the song!  She wants to stay one more week.

To all COOKIES, dont be complacent!  Lets support DAVID COOK.  If you are in American and you can vote, dial 1-866-IDOLS-02 or 07.  Again, lets not be relax.  Lets make sure David Cook will go all the way and win the title.  David Cook is our next American Idol!

For my fearless forecast.  I think the bottom 2 will be Syesha and Brooke, but Brooke will definitely go home.  Lets see how American will vote.

David Cook is HUMAN!

April 27th, 2008 by ilovedavidcook

Anyone who has been through what David Cook is going through knows the heaviness he feels inside.

His older brother, Adam, is gravely ill, in the advanced stages of brain cancer. With little fanfare Adam traveled from his home in Terre Haute, Ind., to Hollywood to attend the April 15 broadcast of “Idol.”

After his song was done and the judges had praises for him, David cried a little. The next night Ryan Seacrest gave him the chance to talk about what had happened the night before, but David declined. I admire his need for privacy, but I suspect that even if he wanted to, he probably can’t talk about it publicly without breaking down or, like he did Tuesday night, softly weeping.

This is heavy stuff, heavier, I think, than a lot of people realize. It’s hard to imagine how hard it is until you go through it.

For Cook, a native of Blue Springs, this is all compounded by the show: Amid the most exciting and public moment of his life, he is also feeling profound sadness. I bet it’s on his mind most of the time. It probably wakes him up in the middle of the night.

At some point in our lives, we all go through it: Someone we love suffers a major illness. Or dies. Usually it starts with grandparents, then elderly parents, aunts and uncles. Sometimes it doesn’t. When it’s a child — well, that has to be the worst. But when it’s a sibling, it can be nearly as tragic and sad.

Brotherhood and sisterhood are unique relationships, bonds that begin at birth. Our siblings are wired to us in ways no one else is or can be. They see us at our lowest, our weakest. They know things about us no one else knows, not our parents, spouses or closest friends.

It’s a deep, durable bond, too. It survives feuds, sometimes bitter feuds — the kinds that kill friendships. And it survives separations — sometimes long estrangements. I found this line in a Dylan Thomas story that made me smile: “I made a snowman and my brother knocked it down and I knocked my brother down and then we had tea.”

In a perfect world Adam Cook gets better and raises his children into adulthood. And David remains his kid brother for many years. Let’s hope.

In the real world, crueler things happen. When I wondered aloud to someone whether David Cook might not finish this season, she said slightly incredulously, “Why?”

Why? Because maybe the grief will be too heavy to bear, because maybe he decides his brother and his family are more important than a singing contest.

“Idol” is classified as a reality show, I guess, but it’s really an unscripted serial drama. Each week is a new chapter, with a new conflict and resolution. Viewers pick their protagonists based on personality as much as talent and hope he or she survives till the finish. And along the way, they root against their antagonists, hoping for another’s failure.

Reality has crept into this season, a storyline more profound than someone’s job at a strip club, someone’s so-called stage parent or someone’s former recording contract.

David Cook genuinely doesn’t want his story to affect the outcome of the show, which makes him seem even more decent as a person. He doesn’t want our sympathy, but he deserves our respect. And if you have any idea of what he’s going through, give him your empathy, too. Right now, winning “American Idol” must be a distant second on his list of wishes.
